The Technology Advancement Program (TAP), a program of the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute, is an incubator facility offering space and support services for early-stage companies engaged in developing technology-based products or services with commercial potential. TAP's services and dynamic atmosphere create an environment where entrepreneurs flourish, with flexible, furnished office and laboratory space, modern IT and biotechnology infrastructures, in-house business support and convenient office facilities.
TAP companies are successful. Both Martek Biosciences and Digene, two of the strongest biotechnology companies in the region, are TAP graduates. Powerize.com, which was sold to Hoover's Inc. for $17 million, is also a graduate of the program. As the first technology business incubator facility in Maryland, TAP has refined its services so entrepreneurs can focus less on administrative details and more on growing their companies.
