Formerly known as the Maryland Technology Development Center, the Shady Grove Innovation Center is a project initiated and managed by Montgomery County Department of Economic Development. It was developed, financed and constructed as a joint partnership between the county and the State of Maryland. In operation since 1999, Montgomery County's first incubator set the standard of excellence in promoting the growth and success of technology companies.
The 60,000 square-foot facility is designed specially to meet the requirements of the high technology industry. It offers 60 offices and 24 modular wet laboratories for biotechnology companies. Each lab is fully fitted with work and lab benches, sinks and fume hoods. A central lab equipped with an autoclave, centrifuges, de-ionized water, washer, freezer, refrigerators and a minus 80 degree freezer is available for the shared use of all tenants.
