The Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC) is a business incubator that serves as a hub of technology commercialization to generate new business formation in Anne Arundel County.  The CIC develops partnerships with federal agencies, universities and key corporations as it develops new companies in the homeland security, defense, communications and information technology sectors.  These partnerships connect the early stage technology companies at the CIC to a valuable network of industry leaders in these sectors.

The CIC provides business start-up services and flexible facilities to accelerate the formation and growth of early stage technology ventures.  This valuable combination will increase the likelihood for success.  CIC houses approximately 15 to 20 start-up companies in its 24,000 square foot facility.  The center is a program of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation.

The Emerging Technology Centers (ETC) is a non-profit business incubator program, with two individual incubator facilities, geared toward growing early stage technology-based companies in Baltimore city.  As part of the Baltimore Development Corporation, ETC promotes economic development by providing companies with business, technical and networking connections through a wealth of resources to help smooth their path from concept to profitability.  Located in the Canton Can Company complex, the ETC building houses the administrative headquarters of the centers and emerging IT related companies.  The building's inviting environment and warmth provide a sense of community to all who share its space.

ETC participants share space and administrative services with one of three facilities in the City of Baltimore. The facilities offer fully wired office space for IT/wireless companies in an open environment and valuable wet lab space for biotech companies at below market rates.  The participants have access to a full menu of customized business and technological advice and assistance geared toward the special needs of each individual firm.  More than an opportunity for growth of individual companies, the incubator provides an environment in which like-minded start-up technology companies can accelerate their growth potential through partnerships, joint ventures and other collaborations.

The Bio Innovation Center is an ideal environment for companies that require their own dedicated wet lab and/or office space, but may not be ready to build out their own space or commit to a long-term lease.  The Bio Innovation Center enables companies to expedite their time to market while conserving capital expenditures through: rapid move-in with pre-built lab and office space; flexible leasing terms; savings due to shared equipment room; professional atmosphere with access to shared conference room; immediate phone and internet connectivity.

Bio Innovation Center companies can readily interact with the entrepreneurially-charged research faculty of the University of Maryland, Baltimore – a leading public research university and medical center – and other life science companies in a collegial environment with high-level business and legal services available and the research resources of the University nearby.
