Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs (OMA)

The Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs (OMA) strengthens and preserves Maryland’s more than 200,000 minority and women-owned businesses. OMA is responsible for managing and overseeing the state’s Minority Business Enterprise program for all state agencies.

OMA’s Web site provides basic business information (resource guide, business start up, financing, marketing, managing and expansion) and information regarding available agency aid. OMA is the principal advocate for Maryland’s minority and women-owned businesses and provides a “one-stop shop” for information to help them:

• Navigate the state’s procurement and certification processes
• Identify organizations with programs that assist business owners in obtaining services they need to start, develop and grow
• Deal with issues related to their business by acting as ombudsman for them throughout their participation in the program.
