Pollution Prevention Program (PPP)

The Maryland Department of the Environment operates the Environmental Permits Service Center, which provides pollution prevention information and assistance to businesses. It also makes available free, on-site pollution prevention opportunity assessments through the University of Maryland Technology Extension Service.

Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP)

The Maryland Department of the Environment provides compliance and permitting assistance for small businesses with air, waste and water permits. The department’s SBAP offers presentations to groups on environmental issues. SBAP also coordinates the department’s small business loan program for the upgrade or replacement of air pollution control equipment. Loans are limited to companies with 25 or fewer employees.
