Electric

Maryland's ample electric power resources are in part the result of its partnership in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland (PJM) Interconnection, the world's first, and North America's largest and most integrated power pool.  Through the grid, PJM member utilities share their generating output to insure reliable power and avoid costly shortfalls and surpluses.

All retail electric customers of investor-owned utilities and major cooperatives in Maryland now have the opportunity to choose their own electric supplier.  Among mid-size and large industrial customers statewide, more than half have chosen new suppliers at more competitive rates.  For more information about selecting an electric supplier, please visit the Maryland Public Service Commission web site.
