| BALTIMORE, MD Tue, Feb 27, 2007 David Edgerley, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, today announced the release of a Business Opportunities Guide for small businesses seeking to do business with Maryland’s federal facilities. Rapid growth at the state’s federal and military facilities has opened new opportunities for businesses of all sizes.
“We want to make sure that our business development initiatives assist businesses at all levels,” said Secretary Edgerley. “This publication is an excellent tool to enable small and minority businesses to share in the opportunities available in Maryland’s federal and military facilities.”
The publication provides guidance for small companies that often do not have the resources to pursue these possibilities to access federal opportunities. Prepared by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), Inc., for the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development’s (DBED) Office of Military and Federal Affairs, the guide provides information on identifying and accessing procurement opportunities, preparing proposals and marshalling resources to compete for and fulfill federal contracts.
“In this guide, the state’s small businesses have a roadmap for navigating the federal procurement process and bidding for federal contracts,” said BGen. Mike Hayes USMC (Ret.), director of DBED’s Office of Military and Federal Affairs. “Offering this guide is a small step toward achieving the goal of One Maryland – economic opportunity for all Marylanders.”
The guide is available for download on DBED’s website, www.choosemaryland.org.
