Prince George's County

Prince George's County MapPrince George's County wraps around the eastern boundary of Washington, D.C. and offers urban, suburban and rural settings for employers and residents. The region's national and international airports and the Port of Baltimore are less than an hour away. The county boasts a friendly business climate, skilled workers and an outstanding quality of life.

15,300 businesses employ over 230,000 workers; an estimated 475 of these businesses have 100 or more workers. Almost 900 technology companies employ 33,600 highly-trained workers-the second highest number of high-tech companies, as well as defense and aerospace companies, of any jurisdiction in the state. Major employers include Computer Sciences Corporation, Safeway, ATK, Greenhorne & O'Mara, SGT, and Verizon. New technology companies are nurtured in several business incubators in the county.

Prince George's County has nearly a dozen federal labs and agencies, such as the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, FDA, NOAA, and the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center. The University of Maryland's flagship campus at College Park is located here. The county's commitment to business growth and investment is reflected by new facilities such as the NOAA Climate Prediction Center, Steeplechase 95 International Business Park (a Foreign-Trade Zone), and numerous high-quality developments such as Woodmore Towne Centre, National Harbor and the University Town Center.
